The first jaw reconstructionWednesday March 15th, 2017
In cooperation with the Clinic of Oral, Jaw and Facial Surgery of the University Hospital Brno, we planned and helped perform our first reconstruction of the mandible. The procedure was planned based on a CT scan of a patient whose jaw was deformed due to a benign tumour. It was a primary reconstruction of the jaw using an autologous bone graft from the pelvic bone. We created cutting templates for the jaw resection and templates for bone collection from the tibia. The physicians shaped a standard fixation plate using a model of a reconstructed jaw that we prepared. The surgery was successful. We are looking forward to further cooperation.
