The first secondary jaw reconstructionThursday April 12th, 2018
A plan for a secondary reconstruction of the jaw using an autologous bone graft from the tibia was developed for the Clinic of Oral, Jaw and Facial Surgery of the University Hospital Olomouc. When compared with primary jaw reconstructions, the planning of secondary surgeries is more complicated. The resection of the jaw was not performed earlier, so the total shape of the functional jaw was not available. Using symmetry and anatomical knowledge, we performed the reconstruction of the missing part to ensure a result functionally comparable with the original condition. The surgery using our surgical templates and conception models was successful. We are looking forward to further cooperation.
